This five card series postcards from various photographs commemorates some of the incidences of the Jameson Raid, which took place between 30 December 1895 and 2 January 1896. Privately printed on 1d postal stationery postcards (H&G 2a), published early 1896 by Sallo Epstein and M.Z. Booleman.

The complete set of 5 cards used comprising 'Scene In Simmonds Street', 'The Australian Brigade', 'March Past Commisioner Street', 'A Boer Patrol' and 'Fortifications At Auckland Park. The Simmonds Street card addressed to Germany (light handling bend), the other four cards very fine all addressed to Mr Booleman in Johannesburg (9 MRT 97) endorsed in Dutch 'Voor eigen gebruik' meaning 'For own use'.
